A Patridge in a Pear Tree

Hello All!!! After lunch today we perused around our house and looked at the vegetation that is budding and blooming. Of course I brought my camera along...since it was such a gorgeous sunny day...
Here are Dad and Mama humoring me....This is one of Dad's Asian Pear trees...as you can see it is heavy with fruit. Last year they produced no fruit thanks to a late freeze... And of course here is a pic of me and Chrissy....she was thrilled to have her picture taken as well...
No, I was not playing on the swing set today.although the swings did look quite inviting :) While my beloved fam. took a nap I took advantage of the almost perfect day-reading, swatting at flies (that tickled my feet), knitting and enjoyed hearing a dove's mournful call.

Trash and Treasure

Happy Saturday!! What a gorgeous day!! I decided after breakfast I would get my exercise and go for a walk. Some trash has gathered on our road so afterwards I donned some gloves, got a trash bag and set off once again...
The trash bag was full but I did get a bit muddy in the process. There is just something alluring about a gravel road that is freshly rained on, feeling the your feet sink in and slide around. If I had known a paparazzi was going to be snapping my picture I MIGHT have tried to match a bit more...maybe...but then again, doesn't John Deere match with everything?
And in other news...Mama and I worked on organizing our spare room today since our dining room was housing a bed and a few other random items of Chrisa's. Now the mattress is in its rightful spot on the bed frame and the room is a bit more organized. (Sorry, no before and after pictures) In the process Mama showed me this silky peacock bedspread (that is old but at the moment I can't remember how old...). I thought it would add some jazz to my room for summer...Considering my curtains are denim and red it really does not match but one does need a change once in blue moon.

Birthdays

I hope ya'll are having a wonderful Memorial weekend so far! This week we have been celebrating birthdays-Mama and RuthAnne's. (Mama's birthday is still not over since we have yet to cook her a meal) I don't think the pics need an explanation. (Besides, it is getting late and if I start typing you may think it's a different person!) Happy evening!

Sunday Snapshots

Those of you who view my blog are going to wish I had never discovered how much I like my camera, just wait until I figure out how to do videos. :) Here are some of my Sunday afternoon activities. I hope you all had a restful Sabbath!
The parents...
A Gerber daisy...aren't daises just the friendliest happiest flower? Mama and I play a game on Sunday afternoons. She beats me, almost, every time sometimes by as little as 2 points. (Yep, you guessed it, I lost today!)
I was acting silly when mama tried to take my picture so this is the best one she got. Perhaps I should have put the other ones so you could see a different side of me. And if you are wondering why I'm wearing a jacket it was quite chippy here today. Rain, sleet, freezing rain....okay maybe it wasn't all of those things, just rain...but it was cold and a little windy. Needless to say I didn't go exploring in the woods but stayed wrapped up in a jacket and pumpkin Halloween socks.

Saturday Snippets

For a while, I have been looking at different cameras but had not found just the right one until recently. Friday dad drove me to Exit 7 to purchase it (Thanks Dad!!). Despite my wishing the battery to charge sooner, it did not. Thus, today was the trial run. I wanted to go to the Cedar Bluff Overlook Park but it looked as if they were having some type of celebration so I walked around here and found things to snap pictures of. It was such a gorgeous day I really didn't want to come back in but alas you can't spend all afternoon meandering around in the woods.
There were quite a few caterpillars crawling on the pavement. Actually, some were crawling and some were sun bathing (or so it appeared :) I was hoping to find some daisies to pick and brighten up my room but there were only a few to be found. Georgia had all kinds along the wayside but we in VA must be a few weeks behind them.
If you were a private investigator what type of print would this be? RuthAnne would define it as either a "BIG BUCK" or a 'doe".
This stream is one of my favorite spots to walk to. It is so peaceful and calming to hear the water flow (sound machines don't quite cut it!).
And last but not least here is our faithful dog. The sad news is Dad took her to the vet and he diagnosed her with congestive heart failure. At least she is eating now and is moving a little more. This is the only picture where she did not have her head turned.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day Mama!! I Love ya!!

Dawg Days

Friday we once again were on the road. This time it was to Georgia for Chrisa's graduation from UGA (congrats DB!). We loaded up her belongings on Friday, which were ready to be loaded upon arrival, later that evening we headed over to Aunt Jane's house to spend the night. Saturday graduation was at 2:30. The graduates (doctoral and masters') were to arrive 1 hour prior and in the meantime us spectators passed the time by counting the seats (which was over 800) and my knitting tagged along as well. Once the ceremony got started it wasn't TOO bad and spirits were lifted a bit when we found out there were over 800 graduates and only about half of them showed.

Get ready to show your dawg spirit...
With all of the able bodies it only took about 30 minutes to load. This was a major plus since the pollen was prolific and along with the heat gave you a nice sticky feeling...the only furniture we left behind was a dresser that we set by the dumpster; the next day it was gone...
After graduation...

Saturday morning enjoying States and Jane's screened in porch...

Figuring out how to wear their hood...Congrats Chrisa and Meg!

Mama and me...

Dad and Mama...

Dad drove the entire way home because you couldn't see out the back and neither mama nor I are natural truck drivers. I tried to entertain myself by knitting, until it was too dark to see, and taking pictures.

Wedding

This past weekend my cousin Curt was married (or "got hitched" as they say in Andy Griffith). Here are a few pics; sorry there are none of the bride and groom!

(What a nice comment DB! I'll be sure to oblige you sooner next time!)
