Humming Along

While mama and I were playing cards today hummingbirds were enjoying their food. I tried many times to get a picture but every time I would get up to take one they flew away. Finally I got a good shot.
Hovering around...
feasting..:)Yay!! RAIN!! The Lord blessed us with a little rain shower after church this evening! Such a wonderful good happening deserves to have a picture taken! It rained hard for a few odd minutes-rain was bouncing off the sidewalk-it made you want to dance around in it (despite the occasional rumble of thunder and flash of lightning:)!

Thoughts...

"He showed me that I was bitter toward God about the way he had made me. I realized I didn't like myself, and in rejecting myself I had rejected God's handiwork. He asked, "How can you serve God if you aren't satisfied with the way he made you?"
He showed me from scripture how God had prescribed exactly how I was to look, even before I was born. He explained how God could make his strength perfect in bodily weakness and how He was not finished working on me yet. I realized then that God's goal was to develop inward qualities in me so that I would reflect the beauty of Christ."
Said by Betty Olsen a martyr in Southeast Asia. She lost her mother at an early age, battled depression and watched her marriage prospects dim as she grew older; yet she devoted her life to missions, even with much inner conflict. When her friend, Ruth, fell mortally wounded she cried, "Lord help me so I can the others." God gives us the strength we need in times of temptation and trials. If only we would lean upon him and learn to "Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak" (Mt 26:41) So many times I fail, fall and am willingly forgiven and lifted over the stile by my sustain-er and redeemer. I become so very dissatisfied with my situation, forgetting he the creator of all ransomed and paid for my pardon. How could I not help but rejoice in Him all day long?

Family Fun

Sisters, nieces, and nephews have been here visiting this week and last week. We've been havin some fun times like:

Riding in the wheelbarrow with grandaddy...Playing in "Baby's" car seat..
Today we ventured to the Hands on Museum with five kiddos. It's funny how you think places are as big as Texas when you're little. However, when you grow up they become their real size. All of the kids had fun and we left with five exhausted, (ten if counting adults) hungry kiddos.

Another Visitor

Today we had another visitor. This one was long, black and very quick. Mama and I were calmly sitting on the bench when a black snake slithers out of the garage. It did not stay long in the open but slithered back in hiding where it was presumably safe. Dad was not home at this time but he was called and swiftly arrived home to dispose of our dear friend before it disappeared for good. Dad nicely held the lil guy up so you could see the full length of it. Perhaps I should have skinned it to make something with...Thus ends the excitement here today...wonder what creature will visit tomorrow?

Visitors

Last week Randy and Missy came for a short stay. Friday night we played a rousing game of Rook, with much discussion about what a rook actuallly is and as to what group a foul belongs to, upon which mama whips out the dictionary where she proceeds to read the definitions to the wondering parties. It was by far one of my worst games where as Dad and Randy were shining stars. Missy and William
Carrie and myself..
Randy and RuthAnne...
The deer population does not seem to be dwindling any around the house...Sunday morning some scrawny doe were grazing near the woods.
I am patiently waiting the last picture upload and from there I will be heading off to work. I think the last photo may have to wait until later. Ya gotta love the yellow warning that keeps popping up on the screen. Ah ha....here we go...
Uncle Randy arrange mama's garden turtles just so...he then said, "they are one big happy turtle family". Don't they look happy to you?
